What to know about receipt printers.

There are a few things to keep in mind when ordering a receipt printer.

Desktop and Mobile. A desktop receipt printer is traditionally what is used in POS applications. Mobile receipt printers are use for more specific applications.

Most receipt printers are either USB, Bluetooth, Ethernet or Wifi. Not all connectivity types will work with all applications. This is largely determined by the software you are using.

There are two types of receipt printers, Thermal and Impact. Thermal printers are most commonly used in point of sale whereas impact printers are used where heat is a concern. Impact printers use ribbons and carbon paper; thermal printers use heat.

Depending on the software you are using, you may be required to use a specific receipt printer. The operating system of your terminal and the software itself, will determine which printer you are required to use. If you need recommendations please reach out to a specialist.
