How do I measure a Zebra label correctly?
Measure the label width first and label height second. For example, a 4" × 6" label is four inches wide across the printer and six inches long in the print direction.
Also measure or verify the roll outside diameter and core size. Two rolls can use the same label dimensions but have different physical roll specifications.
Do not order by Zebra printer series alone
Zebra ZD, ZT and ZQ product families contain multiple printer models and configurations. Always verify the exact model rather than assuming all printers in the same family accept identical media.
Why does roll diameter matter?
The label may be the correct width but the roll may still be too large to fit inside the printer. This is especially important when moving labels between desktop, industrial and mobile printers.
Why does the core size matter?
The roll core must work with the media holder, spindle or loading system in your specific printer. Core diameter should be checked along with roll outside diameter.
Do all Zebra labels require ribbons?
No. Direct thermal labels do not require ribbons. Thermal transfer labels require a compatible thermal transfer ribbon.
Can direct thermal labels be used for long-term labeling?
