Barcode Labels

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which labels fit my printer?

Check your printer model, supported label width, roll size, core size, outside roll diameter, print method, and media sensor type. Labels must match both the printer and the workflow. If you are replacing labels, use the existing roll or box specifications as a starting point.

Do direct thermal labels need ribbons?

No. Direct thermal labels do not use ribbons. They print using heat-sensitive label media. Thermal transfer labels require a compatible ribbon.

Should I use direct thermal or thermal transfer labels?

Use direct thermal labels for short-term labels such as many shipping labels and temporary barcode labels. Use thermal transfer labels when labels need to last longer or resist handling, heat, chemicals, moisture, sunlight, or outdoor conditions.

What are 4 x 6 labels used for?

4 x 6 labels are commonly used for shipping labels, carrier labels, ecommerce fulfillment, warehouse shipping stations, and package processing. Always confirm your carrier, software, printer, and label format requirements before ordering.

Can I use any label brand in my label printer?

Not always. The label must match the printer's supported size, roll type, core size, sensor requirements, print method, and media specifications. Some printers or workflows may require specific label materials or settings.

Can Spartan POS help me choose labels?

Yes. Spartan POS is an authorized dealer and supports the products it sells. If you are unsure which barcode labels, thermal labels, ribbons, or supplies fit your printer, confirm your printer model, label size, print method, material, and workflow before ordering.
