Labels, Ribbons, Receipt Paper, and Printer Media Guide
This finder helps customers match direct thermal labels, thermal transfer labels, barcode labels, shipping labels, product labels, warehouse labels, thermal transfer ribbons, wax ribbons, wax/resin ribbons, resin ribbons, thermal receipt paper, bond paper, sticky printer media, liner-free media, and scale labels.
How to Match Printer Media
Start With the Exact Printer Model
The printer model determines the supported media width, roll diameter, core, sensing method, print method, ribbon construction, and accessory requirements. Similar printers in the same family may use different media configurations.
Direct Thermal vs. Thermal Transfer
Direct thermal labels and receipt paper use heat-sensitive material and do not require a ribbon. Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon to transfer an image to paper or synthetic media. A thermal transfer printer may also support direct thermal printing, depending on the model and setup.
Wax, Wax/Resin, and Resin Ribbons
Wax ribbons are economical for compatible paper labels. Wax/resin ribbons provide more durability on coated paper and selected synthetics. Resin ribbons are used for demanding chemical, heat, abrasion, outdoor, and industrial applications. The ribbon width, length, core, ink side, and printer family must match.
Receipt Paper
Receipt paper should be matched by printer model, paper width, roll diameter, roll length, core, thermal or bond construction, and whether the printer uses a cutter. Common descriptions such as 80mm or 3 1/8 inch are not enough by themselves.
Sticky and Liner-Free Media
Sticky receipt paper and liner-free media use adhesive-backed material for orders, food preparation, delivery, routing, labeling, and temporary identification. Match the exact printer, media width, adhesive pattern, roll length, core, and approved media family.
Scale Labels
Scale labels must match the exact scale model, label family, dimensions, roll construction, core, roll direction, gap or black-mark sensing, adhesive, and print layout. Similar-looking CAS or Ishida labels may not be interchangeable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I match labels using only the width?
No. Length, core, outside diameter, sensing method, roll direction, adhesive, material, and printer model can all affect compatibility.
Do direct thermal labels need a ribbon?
No. Direct thermal labels use heat-sensitive material. Thermal transfer labels require a compatible ribbon.
Should the ribbon be wider than the label?
Ribbon width should generally cover the printed label area and protect the printhead, but the correct width depends on the printer and media setup. Confirm the manufacturer's specification.
Can I use any 80mm paper in an 80mm receipt printer?
No. Roll diameter, length, core, paper thickness, coating, cutter clearance, and printer specifications still matter.
Will the finder show exact products?
Yes. It loads live products from Spartan POS label, ribbon, receipt-paper, and sticky-media collections, then ranks exact catalog products against the information provided.
