Product Description
Honeywell Granit Series — Ultra-Rugged Industrial Barcode Scanners
The Honeywell Granit series is built for the toughest environments in warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, and field service — where dropped scanners, dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures are a daily reality.
Scan Engine Options
- Linear Imager (1D) — reads standard linear barcodes at long range; ideal for basic warehouse and receiving tasks.
- 2D Imager (Area Imager) — reads 1D and 2D barcodes (QR, Data Matrix, PDF417), including damaged, poorly printed, or screen-displayed codes. Standard on XP and Ultra models.
- Extended Range (XLR/XP) — adds long-range scanning (up to 50+ feet with the right target) for scanning pallets on high warehouse racking without a lift.
- HD (High Density) — optimized for small, tightly packed barcodes at close range, common in electronics and small-parts picking.
Connectivity
- Corded (USB / RS232) — plug-and-play wired connection for fixed workstations, POS counters, and kiosks.
- Bluetooth (Cordless) — pairs with a charging/communication base or directly to a host device; supports Bluetooth Classic and BLE depending on model, with typical range up to 300+ feet line-of-sight from the base.
Durability
- IP65/IP67-rated sealing against dust and water.
- Multi-surface drop resistance rated from 6 to 10+ feet (varies by model), with tumble ratings in the thousands of cycles.
- Designed to operate reliably in cold storage/freezer environments as well as hot, dusty warehouse floors.
Typical Use Cases
Warehouse receiving/putaway, distribution center pick-and-pack, manufacturing floor traceability, field service asset tracking, retail back-of-house inventory.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the standard, XP, and Ultra models?
The base Granit line covers general-purpose 1D/2D scanning. XP models add extended range for scanning barcodes on high shelving or pallets without a lift. Ultra models add higher-density imaging for reading smaller, tightly packed barcodes at close range.
Do I need the corded or cordless (Bluetooth) version?
Corded is the simpler, lower-cost option for a fixed scanning station (a packing table or POS counter). Cordless is worth the extra cost if the operator needs to walk around — scanning pallets on a warehouse floor, checking in freight at a dock door, or moving between workstations.
Will it read a barcode displayed on a phone screen?
Yes — the 2D imager models can read barcodes and QR codes off a smartphone or tablet screen, not just printed labels.
Can it survive a freezer environment?
Yes, Granit scanners are rated for cold storage and freezer use, in addition to standard warehouse and outdoor conditions.
What's the practical scanning range on the XLR/XP models?
Under good lighting and with a reasonably sized barcode, XP/XLR models can reliably scan from 50+ feet away — useful for reading pallet labels on the top of high racking.
Does it work with my existing POS or WMS software?
Granit scanners emulate a standard keyboard (HID) or serial device by default, so they work with virtually any POS or warehouse management software without special drivers — the scanner just "types" the barcode data wherever your cursor is.
